Excellent instrument, handles everything quite well, with some minor flaws.
Application Area: Gel electrophoresis
"The new unit works very well and replaced a 17 year old model. The software is easy to use, although the printer icon should be larger. The sensitivity of the camera, the area covered and illumination features are all excellent. It would have been nice to have had a detachable model, or the option for a separate monitor, as we keep the unit close to the edge."

The versatility of the equipment and software helps you get more out of the image.
Application Area:DNA electrophoresis imaging
"The design gives you all the options you could ever want. Multiple door access, wavelengths, zoom, sensitivity, and software interface are my favorites. The tablet for imaging runs a windows OS that everyone is familiar with and has wireless access. There are honestly no weaknesses I’ve encountered."

"If you can't afford a LiCor machine, I would say this runs in at second place."
The primary application of the UVP GelSolo is capturing, saving and printing of gel images. But it is also possible to analyze gels with the included VisionWorks analysis software. Users can import gel images and conduct calculation of fragment sizes or quantify sample material in a few simple steps.
Seven different UV Transilluminator options are available based on filter size (20 x 20 cm, 21 x 26 cm or 25 x 26 cm) and UV wavelength (302 nm, 302/365 nm or 254/302/365 nm). It is possible to control the UV intensity on the single wavelength models. Epi White and Blue LED illumination as well as an Ethidium Bromide emission filter come standard with the series to support the most common gel imaging applications. Different emission filters can quickly be manually changed via the 3 position filter tray. A variety of converter plates are available for different applications such as: UV to white light and UV to blue light (460-470nm).
