Simple and works
Application Area: sample prep for animal tissues
"This is a simple device and worked great with minimal maintenance. The low-speed settings are pretty much useless (too low of a torque and often doesn't turn. This is more of a design flaw than quality of parts), but settings above 3 work fine. There is enough power in the motor and generator probe to handle both soft tissues (liver, brain) and harder ones like heart. You get homogeneous samples with only a few seconds of running and without excessive heat generation. The cleaning is easy and most of time only requires running for a few seconds in a detergent solution. It is pretty noisy due to the use of a high-speed brushed motor, so it's better to have a pair of ear plugs handy if you are working with lots of samples. The use of a toggle switch instead of a push button makes the operation a little inconvenient, so we added a foot-operated peddle switch. Overall it does what we want it to do and does a good job. It is a good starting point for working with animal samples."
It comes complete with a 5mm, 7mm or 10mm stainless steel generator probe that can handle a variety of different types of samples.
Processing Volume Ranges
with 5mm Probe: <200µL-5mL
with 7mm Probe: 0.25mL-30mL
with 10mm Probe: 1.5mL-100mL
The Tissue Master is an ideal choice for a laboratory with many applications and a limited budget. Recommended for soft tissue applications and emulsions only.
