Seward Stomacher® 4500 BAM lab blender
A versatile Stomacher® designed for the BAM testing procedure as well as large volume blending and extraction.
Initially designed in response to the introduction of the Bacteriological Analytical Manual (BAM) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Stomacher® 4500 BAM is ideal for the BAM large volume testing procedure. The Stomacher® 4500 BAM is the perfect tool for extraction from 375g composite samples, as defined by the FDA’s BAM protocols for the preparation of Category III food samples for Salmonella detection. Consequently, the large volume Stomacher® 4500 lab blender enables food manufacturers to combine 15 x 25g (375g) analytical units, rather than testing each unit individually, so saving time when analysing lower risk food products.
As the demand for faster, cheaper, easier and more accurate tests continues to grow for large volume sample preparation requirements, the Stomacher 4500 BAM offers a solution for applications in food microbiology, forensic residue and hygiene analysis as well as environmental applications.

The search for the silver bullet continues with the Stomacher
Maintaining consistency throughout the development of pharmaceuticals is paramount and needs to be prioritized from start to finish. Explore a programmable device from Seward that can provide repeatable homogenization across hundreds of samples, reducing operator variability and supporting batch processing. Whether preparing pooled tissue for in vitro metabolism studies or formulating complex biological matrices for stability testing, the Stomacher® can deliver sample preparation that is both uniform and reliable for downstream analysis.
Addressing the rise of Listeriosis in the UK
The UK has witnessed a concerning surge in Listeria monocytogenes outbreaks in recent years, presenting significant public health challenges. Its increasing prevalence is often found in ready-to-eat foods, particularly smoked fish, soft cheeses, and pre-packaged beef products. To ensure food safety and address this rising issue, explore the Stomacher®, a tool used widely used in microbiological testing that can enhance PCR and culture-based techniques to identify contaminated sources and respond effectively to outbreaks.
