performant, easy to use and to clean, reliable and a wide range of applications
Rating: 3.7

  • Application Area: plant sample preparation for chemical analysis

"The SM 100 is a well performing mill, relatively easy and swift to handle, fill and clean. Safety is exceptional. The machine is expensive yet over the years it is value and reliability for money. Challenges are spare parts and repairs for customers as I am in West Africa. The connection to the South African Representative is sub-optimal. Our laboratory operations do rely on the machine and have been efficient since it is in use. We operate a number of other grinders from Retsch SK 100, a mortar grinder and a cyclone grinder, all performing extremely well."

Perfect instrument - easy to use and designed with safety in mind.
Rating: 4.0

  • Application Area:Milling wood chip into small particle sizes

"We purchased this instrument to assist with some lab-scale trials in making engineered wood panels. The wood chip/fiber size is very important for this work, and the Retsch SM 100 makes life easy for raw material preparation. The instrument is very simple to use, and I was very impressed with the level of safety features which come as standard on the unit. It has been designed with the user in mind, making the task of setup, operation and clean-down very simple. We have experienced several blockages (although I think this has a lot to do with what we are feeding into it), however the instrument design allows for quick (and safe) access enabling the blockage to be removed quickly. Overall, the instrument has saved us many hours of labor, as well as providing very consistent and reproducible wood chip sizing."

The SM 100 is the budget-priced basic model among the RETSCH cutting mills. With its strong 1.5 kW drive and 1,500 rpm rotor speed the mill is particularly suitable for routine applications. Cleaning is made particularly easy.

In combination with the wide choice of bottom sieves, hoppers and collecting vessels, the mill can be easily adapted to varying application requirements. The SM 100 can be bench-mounted; alternatively a convenient base frame on wheels is available.

Advantages:

  • For routine applications
  • Optimum cutting effects
  • Quick and easy cleaning due to smooth surfaces and push-fit rotor
  • Defined final fineness due to bottom sieves with aperture sizes from 0.25 - 20 mm
  • Wide range of accessories including various hoppers, collection systems, rotors and sieves
  • Highest safety standards
