Infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy are among the most widely used techniques for materials identification and characterization. IR and Raman spectroscopy measure the chemical signature unique to all materials. Advantages of using IR and Raman spectroscopy include: ease of use, rapid analysis, and relative low cost. In addition, state-of-the-art IR and Raman microscopy enhances the investigation of materials through non-invasive microscopic analysis. IR and Raman microscopy features minimal sample preparation, diffraction limited lateral resolution and chemical imaging capability. The techniques are routinely used to perform mixture analysis, composite structure analysis, orientation and crystallinity analysis. Typical application fields include but not limited to: pharmaceuticals, polymers, forensics, cultural heritage & art, life science, mineralogy, and materials science analysis.
