Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay (EMSA) Using IRDye® Oligonucleotides

13 Jun 2011

Gel shift assays or electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) protocols usually require labelling DNA by radioisotope, digoxygenin, or biotin. The Odyssey® Infrared Imaging System offers a quick and easily-adapted alternative method to radioisotopic and chemiluminescent detection methods for EMSA analysis and visualization. An EMSA protocol is described and tips for its optimisation are discussed.
