Application Note: Beer Analysis Applications Notebook: Solutions for the Complete Brewing Process
22 March 2016

Beer is the most widely consumed alcoholic beverage in the world and the third most popular drink after water and tea. Beer is typically brewed from four basic ingredients: water, a starch source (e.g., malted barley) brewer’s yeast, and a flavoring agent such as hops. Many varieties of beer result from differences in these ingredients, the additives used, and the brewing process. Once a manufacturer has developed a popular product they need to ensure that they can reproduce it consistently, and in sufficient quantity, in compliance with any local & national regulations. It also needs to remain stable over the shelf-life of the beer. This application notebook presents a range of methods for reducing analysis time without compromising resolution, monitoring processes to determine flavor and stability and characterizing beer using metabolomics approaches.
