The epMotion is a game-changer for high-throughput lab procedures

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Life science

epMotion saves a lot of time—during an eight-hour work shift, a qualified operator can isolate 3 x 96 DNA samples (from plant tissue, using Macherey-Nagel NucleoSpin 96 Plant II chemistry). The device comes with a set of commonly used protocols. It takes some time to optimize and adjust them to your lab’s specific requirements, but once that’s done, all you need to do is press the start button. Pipetting is precise and accurate, even for very small aliquots. The interface is user-friendly and very intuitive. As for technical support, I have never had any issues getting assistance or answers to my questions. We use our epMotion for DNA isolation and purification, preparing PCR mixes, and plate-to-plate sample transfers.

Average Rating 5.0

Application Area:

Liquid Handling, Beads purification

The epmotion 5075t has been integrated in the NKI-AVL, department of Molecular Diagnostics in various lab processes, such as purification by means of beads from amplicon libary's obtained by means of the following applications. Archer Fusionplex kits: Expanded Sarcome Panel, Lungv2 panel and Solid panel. Ampliseq for illumina custom panels and the epMotion 5075t is used for diluting DNA samples and Amplicon Libraries. The epMotion 5075t performs repetitive pipetting tasks that would otherwise be done by an analyst. Standardization with the epMotion 5075t increases the quality, reproducibility and traceability of the analysis and prevents mix-ups of specimens. The epMotion 5075t is a user-friendly robot that, in addition to being low-maintenance, also causes little interference when the robot is used correctly. The deck layout is clear and there are many deck items available with different functionalities. A wide range of plastics, such as eppen and PCR plates, can be used, also from suppliers other than Eppendorf. The analysts can get to work with the epMotion 5075t fairly quickly after instruction. The software is logical and understandable, and new programs are easy and quick to develop and use. The software support is easily accessible and has a short response time to questions that are asked via e-mail. The people are experts and think along with the development of robot programs.

Application Area:

Automated system for pipetting and for nucleic acid extraction

This emotion is excellent product to have in your lab when you need to process a lot of samples altogether. Automated system for extraction and pipetting with least error. Great results I got after its use for the PCR run even better with the normal processing through extraction, which is time consuming also. This made my life pretty easy and highly recommended.

Liquid Handling

A first time user would need training in programming. It would be nice to find out new ways of carrying out different applications. It gives negligible interday, intraday and interplate variation for my screening assays.

Plant Science

We use the epMotion 5075 VAC in different protocols such as PCR, real time PCR, genomic DNA and plasmid extraction and sample dilution. Using the epMotion 5075 VAC and a Fast Real Time equipment it is possible to pipette and run up to six 96-well plates in a working day. For Plant DNA extraction and Plasmid extraction we use kits that had been tested and that Eppendorf provides Plug’n’Prep protocols. In a couple of hours it is possible to extract high quality DNA from 96 samples. You load all reagents and labware, press the start button and while you perform other tasks the epMotion does the bench work for you. The Plug’n’Prep protocols are very easy to use. Creating a new protocol is time-consuming but once you have done it you can save it and use with different number of samples. I would definitely recommend the Eppendorf epMotion 5075 VAC for scientists who need high-throughput and accurate pipetting, sample extraction and purification.

Optimization of the PowerSoil®-htp 96 Well Soil DNA Isolation Kit on epMotion® 5075 VAC

MO BIO Laboratories Inc. developed the unique PowerSoil-htp 96 Well Soil DNA Isolation Kit for isolating genomic DNA from environmental samples while also removing PCR inhibitors. This kit was optimized on the epMotion 5075 VAC automated pipetting system allowing greater pipetting accuracy while offering a more efficient workflow. DNA was extracted from six soil types from multiple sites in central and southwest Michigan using the PowerSoil-htp 96 Well Soil DNA Isolation Kit producing varying yields of DNA sufficient for subsequent testing and amplification of the DNA and showing little evidence of PCR inhibition from common inhibitors such as humic acids. Results demonstrated that DNA yields on the robot were similar to those obtained using individual silica spin filters.
