Description
A new milestone in chromatography
First introduced in 1999 in XTerra® columns, Waters patented organic/inorganic Hybrid Particle Technology [HPT] surmounted significant limitations of silica-based reversed-phase packing materials, particularly their hydrolytic instability at high pH. In 2005, second-generation HPT, branded as BEH Technology™, embodied in new ACQUITY UPLC™ BEH Columns and in Waters XBridge™ HPLC columns, marks a new milestone in chromatography.
With an order-of-magnitude improvement in high pH stability and a higher level of chromatographic performance, BEH Technology™ columns define the new benchmark for LC method development.
BEH Technology™, the second generation patented hybrid particle*, is a product of Waters commitment to continued investment in particle Research and Development, providing reliable solutions to complex method development problems. Based upon crucial customer feedback, three goals for this second-generation hybrid particle were considered paramount.
• Maximize efficiency
• Further improve high-pH stability
• Improve column reliability
BEH Technology™ hybrid particles are the succesful product of 4 years of research.
OBD™ Preparative Columns
Poor lifetimes and the lack of consistent performance of preparative columns have been a significant element of concern to the purification chemist. Cost per purification needs to be reduced and the loss of samples due to early column failure must be minimized. After many years of research into column packing and design, Waters introduced the patent pending Optimum Bed Density (OBD™) preparative column designs, effectively answering these concerns. This format is now recognized in the industry as delivering the most stable efficient and reproducible preparative columns.
The combination of the rugged XBridge™ packings and the OBD™ design takes preparative column performance to a new level, ensuring direct scalability, maximum efficiencies and the longest column lifetimes.

"Good, reliable, reproducible. Many methods were developed on this column with good result. It is good for basic conditions, have basic condition method with many injections, do not have column for 2 years and still running. Good column, highly recommended to others. I like it very much, I will use it for basic conditions in the future." |

"This product is nice because it allows us to increase separation resolution without changing the validated method. The X-Bridge columns are part of Waters new smaller particle size columns. The chemistry of the stationary phase is the same as the 5um columns we have used in the past but packing is now 3.5um. We have just started using the columns so I cannot comment on the shelf life difference." |

"This is a very rugged column in reversed phase chromatography with a wide pH range. It is an ideal column for method development with maximum flexibility across the entire pH range. This is a very good column for isolation and purification, the high pH stability of XBridge Prep columns allows for purer fractions and increased mass loading for bases. It gives batch to batch reproducibility, consistent results and extended lifetime under even the most demanding conditions. " |
