"The 50µl (RC-24E) chamber is good for short time drug applications, although it is hard to get stable water levels. It has a separate chamber for a salt bridge, but I don't use this."

Review date: 11 Dec 2012 | Series RC-20 Fast Exchange Open Bath Recording and Imaging Chambers
Series RC-20 Fast Exchange Open Bath Recording and Imaging Chambers are available in 40µl (RC-24) and 50µl (RC-24E). The bath volume in these two models is the smallest of the open style chambers. This design allows very fast solution exchange for a variety of applications including patch clamp and studies in electrophysiology.

The small bath volumes are especially useful when using drugs in small quantities. Both models are used with 22 mm square or 22 mm x 40 mm coverslips. The closed bath promotes an even and continuous solution exchange and eliminates changes in focus due to alterations in bath height. Studies involving physiological bicarbonate buffers can be performed with no gas loss at the chamber interface. The closed design allows the use of permeable supports. With a laminar flow, minimal distortion of the support will occur. Closed chambers have been used in fluorescent, calcium and time-lapse imaging studies.

All Series 20 chambers equipped with a stainless steel suction tube now include a suction tube clamp. This ensures the adjustable tube will not move once the solution height is set.
