Pt, Pd, Rh in Recycled Automotive Catalysts
In this application note the Rigaku NEX QC and simple yet versatile software provides an easy-to-use and valuable tool for the catalytic converter recycling industry.
Analysis of Sulfur, Vanadium and Nickel in Crude Oil
Sulfur, vanadium and nickel occur naturally in crude oil, and their concentrations vary depending on the geographical region of the oil deposits. Vanadium and nickel can foul the refining process during crude oil cracking, and so crude oil with low levels of vanadium and nickel is desirable. In the oil fields and in off-shore drilling, a quick and easy means of screening for vanadium and nickel is a valuable tool to begin to characterize the quality of the crude before refining. In this application note read how the NEX QC+ from Rigaku, allows monitoring of the concentrations of vanadium, nickel and sulphur in crude.
Analysis of Sulfur and Chlorine in Oil Using EDXRF
Monitoring the sulfur and chlorine content is important in various oils and oil products. In crude oils, chlorine may be present through natural processes or possible adulteration. Left unmeasured, chlorine may bias the sulfur measurement during crude oil blending or cause damage in the refining process. In this application note the analysis of sulfur and chlorine in oil is demonstrated. The results show that the NEX QC offers an effective, simple and fast means of analysis for the measurements of crude oil, cutting fluids, used oils and other similar oils.
ROHS Rapid Screening by Benchtop XRF
This application note describes the measurement of Cr, Hg, Pb, Br and Cd in polyethylene (PE) by XRF rapid screening using the empirical method. The Rigaku NEX QC gives the user a reliable and low-cost tool for measuring the toxic metals in PE and similar polymers for screening incoming raw materials and during the production process.
Measuring Sulfur in Coal
This application note demonstrates the measurement of sulfur in coal. Measuring the sulfur content of coal is important for the characterization and value of the coal, and a rapid and simple means of monitoring sulfur levels in coal is critical, from mining to industrial use. To meet the industry needs, Rigaku offers NEX QC, a simple and versatile benchtop EDXRF analyzer for the analysis of sulfur and other elements in coal.
Monitoring ACZA Wood Treatment
In this note the measurement of ACZA treated wood and wood treatment solution is demonstrated. Cu, Zn and As levels are monitored in solution prior to treatment, and then in the wood to ensure proper retention. A quick, simple, reliable means of analysis by XRF is used throughout the quality control process.
Analysis of Industrial Wood Treatments
The measurement of pentachlorophenol (Penta or PCP) in treated wood and wood treatment solutions is shown. XRF is demonstrated in the QC process in producing treated lumber, giving the production process an affordable means of optimizing quality while minimizing costs and helping to minimize product rejection and waste.
Silver in Barite Ore
In this note the measurement of silver (Ag) as well as iron (Fe), zinc (Zn) and lead (Pb) in barite (BaSO4) concentrates and final tails is demonstrated using the empirical method. The study indicates the EDXRF analyzer is an excellent tool for screening and quantifying silver as well as major and minor elements commonly found in mining and ore material.
Ti and Fe in Kaolin Clay
The analysis of titanium and iron in kaolin clay is demonstrated in this note. Seven kaolin clay samples were used to develop empirical calibrations for Ti and Fe. The results of the calibrations are reported.
Iron Oxide in Silica Sand
The analysis of iron oxide in silica sand is demonstrated in this note. Seven assayed standards were used for calibration with each standard being measured once using a 300 sec analysis time.
