Description

The MEA robot is a bench top 96 well format platform that brings cost effective sample prep right into the researcher’s lab, providing automated, flexible and scalable solutions for low volume protein and nucleic acid purification. The MEA fills the productivity gap between semi-automated instruments and 96 channel capability robots. When used with the unique PhyTip® cover, elution plates retain the integrity of the final elution at volumes as low as 10 μL, to guarantee high concentrations of ultra-high purity samples. And with the dedicated cooling system option, the MEA can be utilized on any standard lab bench, without the need to occupy limited cold room space.

Automated programming of a 12 channel system:
The MEA processes 12 samples in parallel moving down the 8 rows of a plate, giving a powerful advantage over 96-at-a-time robots. This allows complete flexibility of protocols and applications with maximum throughput.

Easy conversion from 200 μL to 1000 μL system: The MEA easily converts within minutes for use with either 200 µL or 1000 µL columns.

Variable plate positions:
The MEA can be used with a range of different plate types (standard v-bottom, deep-well) and positions that give complete flexibility. There are two positions available for PhyTip® column boxes, four positions for sample, wash, and elution plates, and one position for a neutralization trough for cases where low pH elution buffers are used to remove the protein from the column. Two plate positions are capable of cooling to 4°C (with 5 position temperature increment control).

Easy to Use Software Programming:
The PhyNexus MEA Operating Software allows the user to reproducibly move the pipettor to any position on the sample deck for complete control of all flow rates, volumes and times, and movement of columns from capture to wash to elution. Pre-programmed files have methods for purifying with Protein A, Protein G, ProPlus, IMAC and Glutathione PhyTip columns. Each method is a series of protocols, which controls the volume and flow rates for the individual steps of Capture - Purify - Enrich™, with pauses and prompts built-in between each step. These methods and protocols can be easily modified for other resins if necessary. This software and programming flexibility allows the user to easily modify pre-programmed methods or develop complex novel methods that can be stored for future use. The software is designed to operate with PCs running Windows XP, 2000, NT, and 98.

Complete automation: The MEA platform provides a completely automated, walk-away purification method that ensures reproducibility of results. The MEA precision engineered moving head automates the sequential process of reproducibly capturing, purifying and then enriching samples.
