Good FTIR with ATR.
Identification of pharmaceutical actives, excipients & plastics
IRTracer 100 is a good and effective lab machine to identify materials. This machine has high speed and resolution of analysis. The dehumidifier used in this machine made this instrument really very reliable as moisture badly hampers the spectrum. ATR attachments is truly a good part of this instrument. Now we can identify not only the transparent plastic films & containers but also the opacified films. This machine is user-friendly and good in user-to-user data reproducibility. Thanks Shimadzu

Brilliant, good build, excellent performance and good after sales
using with inline Pike gas cell to study gasses from a Mettler TGA
The FTIR spec was purchased to give on line IR gas analysis capability to our Mettler thermogravimetric analyser. We are not new to FTIR and have several workhorses purchase approximately 10 years ago that have done well. However, I love this new machine. The software is great and the resolution brilliant. I also like the small foot print. I would consider using this model when I replace my more general FTIRs that I use for solid sample analysis.

Spectral Characteristics Dependent on ATR Crystal Selection – Differences in Properties According to Sample
ATR is a technique that is widely used in verification testing and contaminant analysis. With this technique, however, peak characteristics such as peak intensity and position, etc., vary depending on the shape of the sample and the type of crystal selected. In this application note, using a variety of samples and three types of crystals (diamond, ZnSe, Ge), we conducted measurements and describe the typical ATR spectral characteristics associated with the contact status between the crystal and sample, as well as the shape of the sample.
Quantification and Identification of Various Sugars in Maple Syrup by MID FTIR Spectroscopy
This application note demonstrates that FTIR analysis is a viable tool for the quantification and identification of various natural sugars present in food products, such as maple syrup. Chemometric techniques allow for the quantitative analysis of fructose, glucose, and sucrose present, with minimal sample preparation. The IRTracer-100 coupled with an ATR accessory provides the ideal solution for any QA/QC environment requiring the quantitative analysis of components present in finished products.
Quantification of Natural Sugars in Baby Food Products by MID FTIR Spectroscopy
No other food products focus consumer attention as those that are prepared for consumption by children.
Of current interest are the natural and added sugar contents of processed baby foods and juices. Identification and quantification of natural sugars was investigated in baby food products by mid-IR Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Using Horizontal Attenuated Total Reflectance (HATR), neat baby food samples were analyzed without need for extensive sample preparation.
Investigation of Additives in Plastics by FTIR-ATR Spectroscopy
Commercially available plastic products contain polymers, such as polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), as their main components, in addition to various trace component s that are added to enhance performance and maintain quality. This application note introduces an evaluation of additives used in plastic bags taking advantage of the high S/N ratio of the Shimadzu FTIR IRTracer-100 spectrophotometer.
