Description
The FLUOstar Omega is a multimode microplate reader perfect for life science research laboratories. Capable of measuring all of the leading microplate based assays, one of its most unique features is its CCD-based spectrometer. This proprietary spectrometer can capture an entire UV/Vis absorbance spectra (220 to 1000 nm) at read times faster than 1 second per well. This ultra-fast, full spectrum analysis allows for assays not possible on other microplate readers.
Voted Select Science’s Best Drug Discovery Product of 2010, the FLUOstar Omega multi-detection microplate reader offers the following detection modes:
• Fluorescence Intensity - including FRET
• Time-Resolved Fluorescence - including DELFIA®
• TR-FRET- including HTRF® and LanthaScreenTM
• AlphaScreen®/AlphaLISA®
• High-Performance Luminescence (flash and glow) - including BRET, DLReady™
• Ultra-fast, UV/Vis Absorbance
The FLUOstar Omega multimode microplate reader provides users with unmatched flexibility and sensitivity to perform any assay needed in all microplate formats up to 1536-well.
Applications on the BMG FLUOstar Omega include
• Calcium measurements (e.g. Ca2+ flux with Fura-2, Indo-1, FLUO-3/4)
• Enzyme activity
• FRET/BRET assays
• Cell toxicity, proliferation, and viability
• Cell migration and invasion
• Stem, mammalian, and microbial cells
• Protein and nucleic acid quantitation (e.g. Bradford, Lowry, RNA, DNA, 260/280 nm)
• ATP or ADP quantification
• Immunoassays, ELISA
• Luciferase, dual luciferase, Renilla, Firefly, Cypridina, Gaussia
• ORAC and ABEL antioxidant assays
• Fluorescent proteins like GFP, CFP/YFP FRET
• TR-FRET assays, including HTRF® and LanthaScreenTM
• AlphaScreen® and AlphaLISA Assays
ACU - Atmospheric Control Unit for Cell-based Assays
For cell-based assays, the FLUOstar Omega has a dual gas controller that independently regulates both CO2 and O2. With the microprocessor controlled ACU, oxygen levels can be monitored between 1% and 19%, and CO2 levels can be regulated between 0% and 20%.
Low Volume Measurements with the LVis Plate
For low volume measurements in assays like DNA, RNA, or protein concentration determination, the FLUOstar Omega can use BMG LABTECH’s LVis Plate. The LVis plate has sixteen microdrop wells in which two microliters of sample can be measured.
Upgrades
The Omega microplate reader series has a modular design concept. This enables the FLUOstar Omega to be fully upgradeable to the powerful POLARstar Omega, which can perform fluorescence polarization using Simultaneous Dual Emission detection. In addition, up two reagent injectors can be added for kinetic assays.
Software
The FLUOstar Omega comes with BMG LABTECH's license-free Omega Reader Control software and MARS Data Analysis Software. This highly intuitive software package provides limitless possibilities for test set up, but also offers easy one-click App buttons for the most common applications.
