Small Volume Liquid Handling with Research Samples
We have had our Cybi-Well Vario for more than 10 years now. It used to be our go-to instrument for library reformatting from 96-well to 384-well microplates. It takes just a couple of minutes to switch between the 96-channel and 384-channel heads which is very useful. As an accurate pipettor, it is our best in the lab. You ask for 2uL transfer, and that is what it gives you with great CVs. It is also very dependable. As one of our older instruments, we have a version that has a maximum pipetting volume of 25uL on the 384-well head. We find this to be limiting compared to some of the more recent pipetting platforms out there. It appears that they now have a 60uL head option, which would be recommended. Our other system can transfer up to 70uL with its 384-well head, and that has made it more attractive for many applications. One thing that I particularly like about the Vario is that it is user-friendly. We can have users of the facility use it, because there is little chance of damaging the unit when pressing on the tips. On our other platform, if the tips are not aligned properly, it can severely damage the head. On the Vario, that is not an issue. We used to be able to get 3rd party tips (Thermo/Matrix) for the instrument but I am not sure if these are still available. They were kind of expensive. PROS: (1) It is very accurate and precise (2) Very dependable instrument (3) Easy to use (4) Hard (but not impossible) to break. CONS: (1) 25uL pipetting volume head is quite limiting (2) It's a little slow (3) Tips are/were somewhat expensive. If you are looking for a dependable pipetting platform to run day in and day out, this is a good option.

Parallel Transfer for Isotopic Assays
This is a great instrument, easy to program and very reliable. It is easy to service which is important in an environment using isotopes. It has a good range of volumes. Regarding the service care, we have had little experience as it never seems to need any!

CyBio Well vario – Flexible, high-throughput pipetting for demanding screening applications
The CyBio Well vario is an automated, simultaneous pipetting platform designed for high-throughput screening environments. It combines exceptional flexibility with consistently high precision across a broad range of applications.
At the core of the system is a modular concept with a wide selection of interchangeable pipetting heads. These can be easily exchanged from the front or back of the instrument without recalibration, as the system automatically detects the installed head. This enables seamless adaptation to changing workflows while maintaining reproducible results.

Precision of the CyBi®-Well Vario Nanoliter Head 384/2.5μL
In this application note, the CyBi®-Well vario Nanoliter Head 384/2.5μL was used to determine the liquid handling precision with fluorescence readout in the low volume range, using buffer and DMSO in the wet-to-wet liquid transfer mode. The CyBi®-Well vario has six pipetting heads which allow for fast and precise simultaneous pipetting whilst providing reliable handling of different liquids over a broad volume range.
Start-up Routine and Tip Washing Efficiency Data of the Active Deep Well Tip Wash Station 384
In this application note the tip washing efficiency of the active deep well Tip Wash Station 384 was determined quantitatively with optimized pump settings and different washing liquids after different numbers of washing cycles using a fluorescence read-out. Furthermore the start-up routing for the active deep well Tip Wash Station 384 was described in detail.
Precision of the CyBi®-Well vario 96/25 µl Head
In this study the CyBi®-Well vario 96/25 µl pipetting head was used to determine the liquid handling precision with a fluorescence readout over a broad volume range using different pipetting modes, different disposable tips and liquids with different surface tensions. The data show the excellent pipetting performance of the CyBi®-Well vario 96/25 µl pipetting head under various conditions and provide a tool that supports the choice of the right experimental settings and disposable tips or a broad range of customer specific applications.
How to Perform High Throughput siRNA Transfections with the CyBi®-Well Vario Workstation
In the field of gene silencing, RNA molecules of 21-28 base pairs in length are used for the inhibition of gene expression in mammalian cells because long dsRNA molecules induce the mammalian interferon response. These molecules are termed small interfering RNA (siRNA). One effective method for delivery of siRNA into cells is transfection through lipofection. This method is believed to be especially effective in the cell growth phase. This is achieved by forming a transfection complex of siRNA and a cationic lipid-based transfection reagent which is then incubated with cells to deliver the siRNA molecule into the cytoplasm. This poster demonstrates the suitability of the CyBi®-Well Workstation for automated dispensing of samples for siRNA lipofection.
Measuring the Precision and Accuracy of the CyBi®-Well vario 384/25 μl Head using the ARTEL Multichannel Verification System (MVS®)
The accuracy and precision demands of liquid handling tasks are growing with increasing throughput and decreasing volumes.
