The instrument is extremely easy to use and user friendly. The instrument was bought by the department almost 10 years ago, and unfortunately we have had some issues where the instrument has broken down but Bruker has been very helpful in fixing the instrument. We are using the instrument for polymer, peptide and protein analysis.

Very simple to use and a great software package. Calibration and spectral manipulation is simple and intuitive. Some small issues with ease-of-use for some options, but there are well written manuals. Bruker has provided good service in my experience for the instrument.

This instrument is very versatile for a wide range of chemical analyses. It is easy to use and maintain and acts as an excellent tool for investigation of various areas of research. I would recommend this instrument to a colleague because of its performance.

Although sample prep can be challenging due to the salt adduct formation and aggregation, it's very easy to use and the system interface is fairly straight forward.  The only issue with interfacing we have is for changing the polarity and whether the instrument is in reflectron or linear mode, but we have preset programs that we work from and convert to programs that we need.

This easy to use high end product gets me great results. I use it at least once a week without any problems. It has been in the lab for awhile and has only needed minor repairs. I do not see us replacing this instrument for a while.

Increasing Spatial Resolution of Lipid Biomarker Analysis by LDI FTICR-MS

The combination of temperature proxy potential of lipids in the sedimentological record with the high spatial resolution of laser desorption ionization (LDI) coupled to FT-ICR-MS can be used to produce estimates on sub-decadal to sub-annual scales and potentially provide crucial, previously hidden insights on the conditions of past climates and aid marine micro-organism knowledge. This scientific poster describes the use of a 12T solariX FTICR-MS coupled to a dual ion source with the Smartbeam II Laser for LDI FTICR-MS analysis of several cm-long sediment core segments.

MALDI Imaging with Single Cell Resolution

This application note, describes the feasibility of single cell imaging. Typically, high spatial resolution requires matrix preparation that is drier than usual and often is limited to high abundant lipid species.
For the high resolution imaging presented here, we utilized a dry sublimation device, which enabled us to perform MALDI imaging at a spatial resolution of 10μm and to resolve individual cells in tissue images.
