"The 7500 FAST system is easy to use, give reliable and reproducible results. The SDS software is easy to use and is really good for data analysis. Both Standard and Fast cycles can be used depending on the experimental needs. To reduce cost, PCR volume can be reduced to 10 ul. I used recommended master mixes for this machine and have always obtained good and reliable results. "

"The Applied Biosystems 7500 PCR cycler is very easy to use and it takes approximately 2 hours 19 minutes to complete a run. The software is very easy to link to our computers and links to databases where your patient’s files are. The cyclers have a very long life and my laboratory has not had any problems with their effectiveness or fitness for purpose. The quality of the PCR products from the cycler is very high plus contamination is significantly reduced compared to other cyclers which have also been used by the laboratory and other units in the department. It is very sensitive and in terms of training to be deemed competent to use the cycler, it is relatively easy from an operational level. The engineers are very quick to respond to any queries."

"Very intuitive-- easy to use and to find and label wells with different reporters. It's also very easy to customize and save templates. Machine plates can be switched out from 96 well to 384 well plates very easily. Temperature gradients are very useful for optimization."

"The machine itself is easy to use and produces good results. However, we have encountered problems with the machine losing connection with the computer since we purchased this equipment 2 years ago. This results in whole data sets being lost, all the calibrations needed resetting and a lot of down time waiting for engineers to come in. Applied Biosystems upgraded the computer they supplied with the machine less than a year after we had it in a hope to negate these connectivity issues. This worked for about 6 months, but now they've started up again. So I'm generally not particularly impressed with the system as a whole in terms of reliability."

High Resolution Melting Analysis now Available
The Applied Biosystems High Resolution Melting (HRM) Software is the easiest to use melting analysis software enabling real-time PCR melt curve assays to be used more accurately for mutation scanning and genotyping. The HRM Software is available on the 7500 Fast Real-Time PCR System, which delivers precise results in a standard 96-well format.
