New 5 mL CO-RE Channel Enables High-Volume Pipetting on MICROLAB® STAR Workstations
13 Mar 2009

Hamilton Robotics announces the addition of a 5 mL channel and disposable tip to its volume range on the MICROLAB STAR liquid handling workstations. The larger 5 mL channel is the first air-displacement pipetting tool to address the needs of larger sample volume applications. The new channel brings new assay and throughput options to research on blood samples including DNA and RNA extraction and protein biomarker isolation.

Hamilton’s proprietary CO-RE (Compressed O-Ring Expansion) technology, incorporated in all STAR liquid handling workstations, ensures precise pipetting on these air displacement systems. Hamilton has also designed a new CO-RE Gripper and accessory kit for the new 5 mL channel.

“The need to extract DNA and protein biomarkers from blood samples is growing rapidly as new research discoveries are made in these areas,” explained Scott Eaton, director of Hamilton Robotics’ OEM/IVD business unit. “This new 5 mL channel brings the reliability and precision of air displacement pipetting to these important applications.”
