Instrumentation Laboratory's Vice President, Brian Durkin outlined the company's new direct sales, service, and support model for its Hemostasis product line in North America at a press conference, held at the annual meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry last week.

The company recently ended a strategic alliance cross-distribution agreement with Beckman Coulter after more than 20 successful years.

"With the number one market share position in Hemostasis worldwide, expertise and resources, and a solid team in the field, we have everything needed to ensure success," said Ramon Benet, CEO at IL. "Our exclusive corporate focus on Hemostasis and Critical Care diagnostics has always enabled us to not only deliver innovative and quality products but also to develop close, consultative relationships in the field with our customers."

"Closer proximity to our Hemostasis customers will allow the company to quickly respond to changing needs, continuously improve the quality of its products and services, and expedite innovation to Hemostasis labs," Benet said. Research and development and manufacturing for all of IL's Hemostasis analyzers and reagents, and its world-class expertise, have always resided in IL's American headquarters, located in Massachusetts and New York. The company has marketed directly to customers of its Critical Care product line in North America for more than 50 years.

Mr. Durkin, Vice President, Commercial Operations, North America, elaborated on the new model and how it will impact the healthcare industry. A comprehensive support programme was detailed at the press conference including a support center well staffed with specialists in the fields of hemostasis, technology, critical care and data management. In addition to this, customer training classes have already commenced for upcoming installations.

IL's Hemostasis products include the highly successful HemosIL (R) line of reagents, ACL TOP (R) Family of Hemostasis Testing SYstems, ACL ELITE/ELITE PRO analyzers and other ACL systems. A new fully automated immunoassay system is also due to be launched soon.
