Product News: Sysmex America Launches Software to Enhance Clinical Laboratory EfficiencySysmex America, Inc., has announced the launch of Sysmex WAM SelectTM, a middleware software platform enabling enhanced efficiency for small to medium-sized clinical laboratories. The hematology software solution is designed for use with the Sysmex® X-Series instruments and the XE-AlphaNTM which includes the Sysmex SP-1000iTM slidemaker/stainer.
The easy-to-use WAM Select software includes a hematology-specific rules library with true auto-validation capability, and it is packaged to enable fast installation with minimal disruption to laboratory operations. WAM Select is the second product of the Sysmex WAM middleware portfolio.
“Sysmex America is committed to servicing the needs of all clinical laboratories so it is particularly meaningful for us to launch Sysmex WAM Select. Smaller clinical laboratories face similar challenges and scrutiny as their larger counterparts – staffing shortages, less revenue, and the need to implement quality initiatives. But regardless of size, auto-validation may now represent the greatest incremental improvement to shorten turnaround time (TAT) for both routine and STAT samples, an important metric monitored by all labs,” said Ralph Taylor, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Medical Affairs, Sysmex America.
“Like its big sister product Sysmex WAM, which is used in over 600 larger laboratories in North America, WAM Select software with pre-built rules now makes hematology auto-validation for the smaller clinical laboratories with limited access to LIS resources achievable. Once TAT goals are achieved, the laboratory will have already realized significant productivity and efficiency improvements,” added Taylor.
