The European Microscopy Congress is held every four years, and it was last hosted by the RMS in 1988 in York. The European Microscopy Congress in September 2012 (emc2012) will incorporate MICROSCIENCE 2012.

The European Microscopy Society (EMS) is an umbrella society for European microscopy societies. The RMS is the largest individual society of the EMS.
The scientific programme incorporates both Life Sciences and Physical Sciences Sessions.

The emc2012 scientific programme embraces light and electron microscopy and spectroscopy across both the life and physical sciences, along with scanning probe and flow cytometry techniques. The conference sessions provide an unparalleled opportunity for delegates who will be able to immerse themselves in their own area of interest, but they will also be exposed to a range of new techniques and tools that might benefit their current work, or that could feature in their careers in the future.

Anyone who is active in microscopy and related techniques should find sessions of interest.
