The Alkylation of Drugs at Ion Exchange Sites on the Surface of Solid Phase Extraction Columns
12 March 2012

The aim of this work was to investigate, characterize, and eliminate the reported formation of alkyl derivatives during routine use of solid phase extraction (SPE) by focusing specifically on norcodeine, norcocaine, normorphine, nordiazepam and benzoylecgonine. Results of the work showed that alkylation can take place in SPE columns in urine drug testing.
