Non-Destructive Molecular Profiling of the Skin using Confocal Raman Microscopy
4 Mar 2013

Confocal Raman spectroscopy has been employed as a non-destructive and label-free tool for molecular profiling of the skin. Molecular profiling of the skin is important for cosmetic, dermatological, skin cancer, defense and security research. This application note demonstrates how the inVia Raman microscope from Renishaw can be used to spatially resolve the chemical composition of skin at different depths. Both intrinsic biomolecules of the skin and extrinsic topically applied chemicals were successfully profiled.
