Measuring Particle Size and Stability of Emulsions
2 April 2008

The Agilent 7020 ZetaProbe (formerly from Colloidal Dynamics) allow the direct measurement of particle size and zeta potential in concentrated emulsions without dilution. Diluting samples takes time and can alter the zeta potential.

This Application Note illustrates the electroacoustic technique with two case studies. One study describes the destabilisation of an anaesthetic emulsion when a local anaesthetic is added. The other describes the use of the flow through cell to monitor emulsion production by high-pressure homogenisation.
