Improving the Efficiency and Accuracy when Extracting Semi-Volatile Organics in Drinking Water by Method 525.2
19 Nov 2012

In this application note the SmartPrep Automated Cartridge Extractor and DryVap drying and concentration systems from Horizon Technology were used to extract and concentrate semi-volatile organic compounds from water according to EPA Method 525.2. Not only was this instrumentation able to pass all the required criteria for an initial demonstration of laboratory accuracy and precision, but it was able to save 48% of the time over the suggested manual loading rate. The improvements made to the extraction method described in the application note allow more samples to be processed and increase the overall productivity in the laboratory.
