In Vivo Mass Spectrometry with the LAESI® DP-1000 System: A New Tool for Native Biomolecular Profiling and Biomarker Discovery

In this application note, the ability of the LAESI DP-1000 system to directly ionize living Escherichia coli and Bacillus cereus cells is explained. LAESI-MS analysis of these cells generates unique mass fingerprints for the two species, and can also be combined with multivariate statistical analyses to rapidly identify biomolecules that are significantly different between treatments.
