Human Cell-Expressed EPO: The Role of Glycans in Mediating Proliferation and Differentiation of CD34+ Stem Cells.
2 May 2012

Erythropoietin (EPO) is the primary regulator of the survival, proliferation and differentiation of erythroid progenitors. At present the only commercially available recombinant EPO (rhEPO) is purified from Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. In this poster, the authors aim to determine whether human cell expressed rhEPO promotes erythroid development of human CD34+ stem cells more effectively than commercially available CHO expressed rhEPO, and to examine the role of sialic acid residues.
