Non-targeted and Targeted Analysis of Anionic Metabolites Using Ion Chromatography and High Resolution Accurate Mass Spectrometry
Available on demand

Metabolomics provides an instant snapshot of cellular process and therefore is increasingly being used to identify biomarkers in cancer research. Studies have shown that the disease state can disrupt the energy cycles. However, the analysis of these small, polar metabolites can be challenging as many are isobaric and require separation before detection. Traditional HPLC separations are not optimal for this and the metabolites are often present at low concentrations, requiring more sensitivity than traditional methods.

Ion chromatography, coupled with high resolution accurate mass spectrometry (IC-HR/AM) using orbitrap MS technology, provides the solution to many of the analytical challenges needed to differentiate isobaric metabolites.

In this webinar, Terri Christison and Dr. Junhua Wang will discuss how IC-HR/AM provides:

  • Superior chromatographic resolution to separate polar metabolites
  • Superior chromatographic resolution of polar isobaric metabolites
  • Superior sensitivity of polar metabolites
