MipTec is now well-established and recognised as the leading European conference and exhibition on enabling technologies in the drug discovery process. However, not many people know the background to the creation of this prestigious event. We decided it was time to tell the story with the help of two key players: Ernst Bürgisser and Alain Donzel.
The story of how MipTec has evolved over the years is a reflection of the dynamism and synergy that has characterized the fields of automation and robotics since the beginning of the 90s. It's a tale that reminds us of the old saying: "necessity is the mother of invention"! At the same time, it gives the two founders an ideal opportunity to pay tribute to those people whose dedication has enabled the event we know today, while underlining the importance of transatlantic cooperation in the field of drug discovery. Finally, it reminds us that once an event has reached a certain size, it is more important than ever to ensure a professional management and the involvement of people with the skills and experience to ensure its ongoing success.
As you will discover, it could all have been so different.
