Great results, can't live without this instrument!
Application Area: small volume mixing
"A workhorse of the biological and medical science laboratory, the Fisher Vortex Genie 2 vortexes samples. It lacks bells and whistles, doing its job effectively, forever. There are no caveats to this purchase."

Brand name actually matters here
Application Area:Sample mixing
"Yes, mixers all basically do the same thing. But it turns out, all vortexers aren't Vortexers. The thing you gain when you go with brand name Vortex Genie 2 is the ability to give strong gyration motion to the sample at LOW speed rotation. Sometimes I want just enough force to get the fluid to tornado in the tube, but not so much that it swirls up into the cap, or the sheer forces disturb the sample. Vortex brand mixers have strong enough motors to do this at low revolutions whereas distributor brand ones do not. It's worth sticking with brand name for this application. "

"A cheap and reliable mixer. Designed for short term mixing so overheats if left mixing overnight. It has a good variety of attachments."
