Description
Bio-Rad’s PhD™ System for autoimmune and infectious disease testing processes IFA slides and EIA microplates with maximum flexibility and efficiency. Its unique modular design accommodates low- to mid-volume workloads. Low-volume laboratories can switch a single workstation from EIA to IFA in less than 30 seconds, while mid-volume laboratories can dedicate up to 10 individual workstations to either EIA or IFA for optimal throughput. With a minimal number of components, the PhD System requires minimal setup time and maintenance. All PhD software applications and workstations run independently, so worklists can be programmed at any time for efficient sample processing.
The PhD System combines robust instrument design, multiple workstation networking, and dual technology for optimum flexibility, efficiency, and reliability.
Flexibility
Network up to 10 PhD workstations to a single computer and a single microplate reader for parallel, comprehensive test processing. Combine IFA slide and EIA microplate processing capabilities with independent software and customizable programming. With modular workstations and quick changeover from EIA to IFA, the PhD System can accommodate low-volume to mid-volume testing.
Efficiency
The PhD System has the capacity for 20 IFA slides or 192 EIA microwells per workstation. Run up to four IFA or eight EIA tests in the same worklist. Worklists can be programmed manually or by barcode scanner. Interface with the laboratory information system (LIS) unidirectionally (IFA) or bidirectionally (EIA) via RS-232 or TCP/IP connection. A graphical user interface allows intuitive programming and easy navigation.
Accuracy
The PhD System’s proprietary volumetric pump consistently and accurately delivers volumes down to one microliter, reducing run time by allowing in-well dilution of EIA samples.

"I find this system useful for studying autoimmune diseases and it is easy to use. I would recommend it to colleagues, however, before purchasing the system, I would have liked to have known about the maintenance and support offered for this instrument." |
