The 5 LIVE is a dedicated live cell imaging system capable of collecting up to 120 full frame images per second, 20 times faster than any other confocal system.  5 LIVE delivers faster, brighter, more evenly illuminated and better contrasted images than ever before.  

The system features:

  • Laser light shaped into a rectangular cross section
  • Laser focussed precisely on the groundbreaking colour-independent AchroGate beam splitter (guarantees almost 100% excitation efficiency and emission yield at all wavelengths)
  • An ultra-fast CCD line detector to pick up the shaped laser light to allow parallel imaging of 512 pixels with high quantum yield
  • Capability of acquiring 120 confocal images per second at a resolution of 512 x 512 pixels and can attain 505 or 1,010 frames per second at reduced formats of 512 x 100 pixels or 512 x 50 pixels
  • Zoom optics and an ultrafast Z-drive permit 3D image stacks to be acquired every second.
