For complete fluorophore flexibility, the Leica TCS SP8 X with active acousto-optical beam splitter (AOBS) and white light laser (WLL) provides the most efficiency, allowing 8 freely selectable and simultaneous excitation lines.
The combination of WLL, AOBS, and SP is a confocal solution that tunes to specific specimens and simplifies spectral separation of complex fluorphore mixtures. Adding the hybrid detector (HyD) with WLL provides the new functionality of Lightgate Imaging for further discrimination of fluorophores based on differences in fluorescence decay. For true quantitative analysis, the WLL and HyD can be used as a versatile excitation source for FLIM measurements and photon counting detector respectively.
