The ongoing trend towards ever decreasing small sample volumes inevitably involves increasing demands on the dosing system. The quality of a tip is defined by the properties of the material used, the design and optimum fit on the individual pipettors.
The precision of the pipetting process is primarily determined by the optimal compatibility of the pipette and pipette tip. That leads to the fact that a calibrated system of the used pipette and tip is crucial for precise dosing. In order to provide tips in optimal, reliable quality, Sarstedt tips are checked for maximum precision and reliability in combination with the pipettes of leading manufacturers at regular intervals. For this purpose, the tips are subjected to a defined procedure of comprehensive in-process conformity testing in accordance with the international standard EN ISO 8655 for piston pipettes. The Declaration of Conformity for piston pipettes indicates the combination of pipette and pipette tip to which it applies attesting precision and reliability. The new tip for pipetting micro volumes from 0.2 -20μl is specially designed for perfect fit on the latest generation of Eppendorf pipettors (e.g. Research plus pipettes) and other brands of identical design (e.g. Finnpipette 0.2-2μl). The tip features an ergonomical and flexible cone geometry, enhanced sealing properties and outstanding precision with single- or multi-channel pipettes. 2, 10 and 20μl graduation rings without interfering ridges and the extreme low ejection force provide a distinct enhancement in pipetting comfort. The fine, extra 46 mm long tip enables safe pipetting down to the bottom of microtubes and facilitates visual volume control. Each tip box comes with a new perforated “temper-evident closure” to preserve safety after opening the sterile bag in order to maintain the high Biosphere® purity level of the tips. For convenience, a clearly visible tip-volume colour code and compatibility of the tip is printed on the box label.
