QImaging announces the release of the Rolera Thunder EMCCD microscopy camera, the newest generation of its high-sensitivity, low-light imaging EMCCD camera product line. Designed for quantitative low-light fluorescence microscopy, the Rolera Thunder is ideal for life science applications such as super resolution (STORM, PALM), single molecule fluorescence and FRAP, as well as physical science applications such as astronomy and studying Bose-Einstein condensates.
The Rolera Thunder features a back-illuminated 16 µm pixel, 512 x 512 EMCCD sensor for >90% peak quantum efficiency, low read noise (< 1e-) and high-speed (385+ fps with binning). Owing to the camera's sensitivity, very short exposure times are possible, which allows rapid data acquisition and greater temporal resolution. The ability to quantify research using the camera’s linearized EM Gain and onboard EM calibration technology circumvents the aging process, which hinders the quantification capabilities of other EM cameras.
