- Multisite Installation Emphasises Autoscribe’s Matrix Gemini LIMS Versatility
Product News: Multisite Installation Emphasises Autoscribe’s Matrix Gemini LIMS VersatilityAutoscribe has won an order from a leading medical device manufacturer for a multi-site implementation of its Matrix Gemini Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This new installation makes use of Matrix Gemini’s standard dual web/Windows user interface and will be rolled out over laboratories in three different locations. Autoscribe has considerable experience of multisite LIMS installations with over 500 concurrent users connected via multiple sites.
The initial installation will be at two sites for environmental monitoring and sterilization applications. This will be expanded to include microbiology and chemistry laboratories at these two sites in parallel with the third site. The implementation is essentially web-based, although there will be a limited-access terminal server where the desktop client is installed allowing for configuration of Matrix Gemini and maintenance of users, for example.
The dual web/Windows user interface provides a high degree of flexibility. The unique Matrix Gemini OneTime Configuration Tools on the desktop client ensures that any screen that has been configured for use on the desktop is immediately available, with appropriate security, to a user running a web browser. This remarkable versatility means that just a single configuration is needed for both desktop and web use with no further modification, effort or cost.
The web-based implementation means that system access is not restricted to the actual laboratory sites - it is available from any location that has web connectivity. This provides access to sample/batch status, results, reports, trend lines or to make comments on samples/batches. In addition, samples can be registered remotely and tracked globally.
Matrix Gemini’s web browser user interface runs on a Microsoft IIS server and offers both internet and intranet solutions. Matrix Gemini can be deployed globally via Citrix as well as the web.
