01 Aug 2007

With exhibition space bookings so far standing at a total of 117,000sq m for MEDICA 2007 (14th to 17th November) and COMPAMED 2007 (14th to 16th) the final figures of the previous year (115,000sq m), have already been exceeded. Altogether more than 4,200 exhibitors are expected to take part at MEDICA 2007 and over 320 at COMPAMED (total visitor turn-out in 2006:- 137,500).

In terms of international participation demand has risen quite evenly from all parts of the world. From Europe, exhibitors from the Netherlands, Turkey, Italy, Poland and Denmark are at MEDICA even more prominently than in previous years. Brazil and Argentina are representative of the stronger presence from South America while Malaysia, India, China and Hong Kong reflect the growing interest from Asia.

All 19 halls of the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre will be fully booked. MEDICA covers all subjects related to out-patient and in-patient health care procedures. Focal themes include: electrical medicine/medical device technology, laboratory technology/diagnostics, drugs, physiotherapy/ orthopaedic technology, medical supplies and consumables, information and communication technology, textiles, medical furniture, room furnishings, facility management and building services.

Concurrently held in Halls 8a and 8b, COMPAMED showcases high-tech solutions for medical device technology manufacturers – ranging from raw materials, components, parts, packaging and services to micro-system and nano technologies.

This year’s MEDICA programme will again include an extensive range of special shows such as MEDICA MEDIA (Telemedicine), MEDICA MEET-IT (User Forum for IT Solutions), MEDICA VISION (Presentations of Research Institutes) and the Physiotherapy Forum. In Hall 14, the Product Division Security Systems in the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association will be organising a joint stand with several of its member companies focusing on luminous call systems for the segment building services. Also, Bluetooth SIG (the non-profit trade organisation for such high-tech companies as Nokia, Intel, Microsoft, Toshiba) will be disseminating information on all aspects of Bluetooth applications in doctors’ surgeries and hospitals (Hall 15).

MEDICA and COMPAMED can be visited on one admission ticket valid for both events. At the same time, this ticket will also grant access to the majority of MEDICA Congress events – Germany’s largest forum for continuous multi-disciplinary medical education attracting over 10,000 participants (in 2006) to a total of 200 seminars and workshops involving in excess of 600 internationally renowned speakers. Focal themes for 2007 will be: cardiology, oncology, metabolic disorders and pain management as well as neurology themes such as strokes, depression and dementia. In addition to the strictly scientific seminars, business, organisational and legal issues will also be addressed.
