Bio-Rad Offers Industry Workshops at AACC 2011
26 Jul 2011

Bio-Rad are presenting two workshops at this year’s AACC conference at the Georgia World Congress Center, July 26-28. You are invited to attend Bio-Rad's workshops at AACC 2011, featuring speakers on Bio-Rad's 4th Generation HIV Assay and Quality Control for the Future: The Foundation for a Patient-Centered Laboratory.

4th Generation HIV Assay
The failure to detect acute HIV infections results in increased risk of secondary HIV infections and sustains the HIV epidemic. After an overview of the evolution of the HIV epidemic and improvements in diagnostic assays, the workshop will present data on the frequency of acute HIV infections and associated consequences on the HIV epidemic. Data will be presented showing improved performance of an HIV Ag-Ab combination assay in detecting HIV infections compared to a current 3rd generation HIV antibody assay.

Quality Control for the Future: The Foundation for a Patient-Centered Laboratory
Today’s laboratories have migrated from batch analysis to a more automated and fluid workflow. The current standard practice of immediate result reporting has compounded the need for appropriate QC strategies that optimize laboratory resources and manage patient risk. Moreover, there are new emerging guidelines recommending risk analysis when developing laboratory QC Plans. Industry pioneers will explore the pivotal role of quality control in managing risk in the clinical laboratory and celebrate decades of innovation in QC that pave the way for the patient-centered laboratory of the future.
