Increased Sensitivity in LAESI-MS Analyses using a Heated Extension Tube for the Direct Analysis of Plants

This poster describes how ambient ionization techniques such as LAESI can suffer from reduced sensitivity compared to traditional ESI. A commonly used method of increasing sensitivity is to heat the inlet of the mass spectrometer. A LAESI® DP-1000 Direct Ionization System was modified to allow the extension tube to be heated using an automated system.
