Microorganism Identification and Classification Based on MALDI-TOF MS Fingerprinting with MALDI Biotyper
10 Jan 2013

MALDI-TOF MS is a high throughput and reliable method for the classification and identification of microorganisms. Applications are feasible in clinical routine monitoring, environmental and taxonomical research, or food processing quality control. This application note from Bruker Daltonics presents an efficient and robust workflow for microorganism identification and classification. The data were acquired using the using a FLEX series MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer and then evaluated using the MALDI BioTyper software, which integrates a ready-to-use reference library comprising thousands of individual strains and is grow¬ing continuously. The applications of this method are also discussed.
