Analysis of EPA 610 Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons
9 October 2017

Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a hazardous class of compounds that are found when drilling and burning fossil fuels. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a variety of methods for testing for the presence of PAHs in ground and waste water. In this application note, Phenomenex builds upon these methodologies using polymerically bonded stationary phase C18 columns with kinetex core-shell silica particles. This particle and phase combination greatly improves selectivity for hard to resolve PAHs while providing dramatically increased sensitivity and better overall LC performance.
