Application Note: ImageXpress Micro System as a Solution for Monitoring Neuronal Stem Cell Expansion and Differentiation
30 October 2012
There is a great interest in using neuronal cells as screening tools in early drug development for stroke, brain damage, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurological disorders. Typical assays start with neuronal progenitor cells (NPCs) which can then be directed to form different types of cells including neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. Assays that monitor the expansion and differentiation of neural stem cells are complex, and analysis of different cells types within the same population can be laborious and inaccurate. This application note from Molecular Devices demonstrates how ImageXpress® Micro Widefield System and the MetaXpress® High Content Image Acquisition and Analysis Software can be used to monitor neuronal stem cell expansion and differentiation.
