Sample preparation in an automated analytical process can be managed either by online or offline workstations. There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches: this white paper examines the factors which have a bearing on the suitability of each approach, and concludes that there is no univocal answer to this dilemma; instead multiple factors and variables should be examined to find the best approach for your own lab.
