High Purity Water for Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy
17 November 2011

Analysis of metals in water samples requires the use of high purity reagents and solvents to ensure the accuracy and precision of measurements. This Application Note is a proof of concept that illustrates the suitability of an ultrapure water purification system for AA measurements. The combination of reverse osmosis, UV photooxidation, activated carbon and ion-exchange resins within the Direct-Q 3 UV system produces ultrapure water directly from tap water. Under the experimental conditions provided by the method, none of these metals were detected.
