Forensic Investigations Using Confocal Raman Imaging
9 Nov 2012

Crucial tasks in forensics include the microscopic analysis of very small objects in order to accurately verify the source of specific samples. Confocal Raman Imaging is very effective tool for such analysis as it provides information on the chemical composition as well as spatial distribution of the components. In this application note from WITec the potential of Confocal Raman Imaging in forensic investigations is demonstrated. The samples typically do not require specific sample preparation and remain unaltered for further analysis with other methods since Raman Imaging is a non-destructive, non-contact and non-contaminating technique.
