The Science of ‘Sportomics’: Prof. L.C. Cameron
14 October 2013
Prof. Cameron, PI for the Lab of Protein Biochemistry at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, introduces the science of ‘Sportomics’: top-down research using ‘omics’, biochemical and hematological approaches, to understand cellular and systemic challenges in response to physical exercise. Hear how his team works with the Brazilian Olympics Committee, to analyze and advise world-class athletes ‘in the field’, with some amazing results. The lab has recently been awarded as a Waters Technologies ‘Centre of Innovation’ for Mass Spectrometry, and the research conducted has implications for the metabolomics of stress, such as in cancer research or brain injury.
