In this video René Assenberg, a Research Scientist at Novartis, Basel, Switzerland, tells SelectScience how the MaxCyte STX Scalable Transfection System facilitates his work in protein production. MaxCyte transfection technology is based on the general principles of electroporation, which involves the application of an electric field to a cell suspension, causing the cell membrane to become transiently permeable and encouraging external material to enter the cell. René discusses how the instrument enables his laboratory to overcome the limitation of inefficient transient transfection in mammalian cells, such as CHO and drosophila cells.
