Automated Liquid Handling within a Benchtop Class 5 Clean Room

So, my name is Stephanie Franco. I'm the technical product manager for Life Science and Automation at BrandTech Scientific. We are the sister company to a company called BRAND which is a worldwide leader and the manufacturer of liquid handling products, bottle top dispensers, manual pipettes, as well as pipetting robots which is the product we are featuring here today.
This is the Liquid Handling Station flow. So we have here the Liquid Handling Station flow. It's our newest instrument-pipetting robot available for sensitive applications such as automated cell culture preparation, automated PCR preparation. It has integrated FlowBox on top with an H14 HEPA filter, and what this does is it creates essentially a equivalent of a Class 5 clean room on the inside of the instrument for the ultimate in sample protection.
So, what makes the Liquid Handling Station flow so unique is that it's such a compact system for what it's capable of doing. As you can see, it's very small, but I like to say that it's actually small enough to hug. It's also so small that it will fit pretty much on any benchtop in any laboratory, especially since we know that laboratory space is quite limited.
The other thing that makes this really unique is how easy it is to use. You're not necessarily programming with anything crazy, you're actually creating methods in a graphical manner. The software is very easy to use. It is a Microsoft-based product. It's got a graphical user interface, so instead of programming, you're dragging and dropping, copying and pasting, all of the typical shortcuts that everyone's used to.
And it also works with Excel. So anything complicated, such as cherry-picking, drug screens, this will allow you to upload data in a very, very easy manner. What the system actually is going to allow you to do is, again, it's such a compact instrument, but you have seven freely available working stations, so this is going to save you time when you're doing just the boring manual processes.
And it's going to allow the end user to actually dedicate more time towards more advanced applications, maybe its data analysis or something that takes a little bit more brainpower. So this robot is really going to allow the end user to increase their throughput and while it's allowing you to do that, it's also going to provide for sample safety because you have a sterile environment on the inside so you're not going to have to worry about any laboratory contaminants.
In addition to sample safety, it's going to provide worker safety, because instead of using your hands to manually pipette everything, the robot will do all of the liquid handling for you. And in addition to all of these benefits, what it's going to allow you to do is increase the repeatability and reproducibility of all of the experiments that you do since this is an automated and a consistent process.
So, BRAND and BrandTech are really working, looking to take this instrument to the next level. We are always looking at what our customers want, what our customers need, and we are really going to be taking our products in the direction of technology.
