"This is an accessory for the Advion micro mass system for direct sample introduction from TLC plates. It creates a sealed space on the TLC surface and elutes compounds off TLC spots under the "cup" and flushes it into the MS. It makes checking TLC spots so much easier. The TLC interface has a replaceable stainless steel frit to ensure only particulate-free solutions go into the MS. The downside is that the frit is in direct contact with the silica gel on TLC plates (typically 5-10 microns) and eventually it will get clogged. We have had the pressure creeping up from 800 PSI to over 1200 PSI over 2 years even after replacing a few of the parts."
