Robust equipment, not extremely user friendly, but technical support is excellent.
Bright field and fluorescent cell analysis
I mostly use the instrument for cell count (bright field and fluorescence), virus infectivity evaluation, and identifying cytoplasmic and nuclear proteins. The instrument is robust and works well when using fluorescence. The bright-field cell count is less robust, but it works for some applications and needs some extra work to make it more accurate. Setting up a protocol for an automatic read of plates is not very simple, but the FAS are always available to give support to design or evaluate a new protocol.

ICC and bright field cell count
The Cytation 5 is a powerful instrument that helped me to perform bright field cell count of attached cells and analysis of cell markers, such as PAX7, MHC and Desmin. It is not the most user friendly software around, especially because you have a lot of possibilities for cell analysis and creation of automated protocols, so it takes some time to become familiar with the equipment/software. That being said, the support offered by the Field Application Specialists is amazing. I used a lot of their help to create my protocols for automated cell analysis. The regular Tech support is also really good.

The BioTek Agilent Cytation 5 combines automated microscopy and conventional microplate detection in a configurable, upgradeable platform. The microscopy module offers up to 60x magnification in fluorescence, brightfield, high contrast brightfield, color brightfield, and phase contrast to address many applications and workflows.
